The Sheriff’s Department three Child Passenger Safety technicians who are qualified to train you to secure your car seat in your car and secure your baby in your car seat. They are available most any time Monday through Friday, 8am til 5pm. If your schedule does not allow for instruction during those hours you can schedule an appointment for a more convenient time. If you have questions regarding what type of carseat your child needs the technicians at the Sheriff's Office can also help you make your selection.
They are happy to teach anyone that comes by and requests this training on Spring Creek Road.

That's the question Sheriff Wiley Griffin is asking Decatur County parents preparing their 14, 15 and 16 year-olds to drive.
The Georgia Teens Ride with P.R.I.D.E. classes will assist Decatur County parents and teens by

Helping parents and guardians become more aware of their own driving behaviors

Teaching parents and guardians how to help their teens become safe drivers
-
Helping parents, guardians and teens learn what they need to do during the supervised practice driving time
-
Altering attitudes and driving behaviors of novice teen drivers
This program is being offered as the first in a series of three classes for the young driver.

Interested in learning what alcohol/drugs can do to your ability to drive?
This two hour course is designed to teach:

Experience various levels of impairment first hand

Teach parents and guardians about the dangers of alcohol

Alter the attitudes and behavior regarding the use of alcohol

Stop Identity Theft - This program is designed to educate the public on how to avoid becoming an identity theft victim and what to do in case your identity has been stolen. This presentation includes an overview of other fraudulent activities as well including phishing, lottery scams and internet safety. Click here Identity Theft for some helpful information.

Child Safety - This program is designed to educate parents and teachers on how to keep our children safe. We also offer a similar program specifically geared towards children. Topics include sexual offender/predator education and child safety education.

Child Fingerprinting - With this program, Deputies will come to your location and fingerprint children. The fingerprint cards are for the parents to keep in a safe location at home. You may also bring your child to the Sheriff's Office for fingerprinting.

Firearms Training for Women - Specifically designed for women, this course includes handgun familiarization, handgun safety and Georgia Laws on carrying concealed weapons. This is an eight hour course that will include time on the shooting range.

Drug Awareness for Parents, Teachers, Communityy Leaders & Kids - Are you involved with children? Do you have children? Keep informed about current drug trends. Parents learn the signs and symptoms and help your youth avoid these pitfalls.
